In Telemedicine, handing over patient information smoothly is crucial for doctors to provide quality care. However, existing methods often lack structure, leading to incomplete data transfer. I was part of a team that tackled this issue by developing and testing a digital tool that collects patient data through a chatbot and delivers it to medical professionals in an organised way.
I discussed the project plan with medical colleagues to clarify the project requirements. To help communicate the user journey, I mapped out a user flow and sketched out a storyboard. This was useful to show stakeholders and clients possible touch points.
Collaborative brainstorming sessions helped inform the creation of screen designs and prototypes. Internal feedback from colleagues guided me in refining the prototype, eventually leading to the development of the basic version of the tool.
Working with healthcare specialists, we designed a usability test to understand how intuitive the tool was and identify areas for improvement. I designed the test script, interview questions, along with a planned timeline for test execution. We conducted initial trials in the office to refine the test process and made improvements accordingly.
At the hospital, we collected qualitative and quantitive data through various methods, including online questionnaires, think out loud recordings, and user interviews, gaining valuable insights into user thoughts and behaviour.
Data from interviews and observations were analysed and organised to identify key themes. We shared our insights and findings with stakeholders in a usability report. In addition I created an interactive prototype to facilitate discussions on potential solutions and guide further development efforts.
